An expression coined by an early fan of this music. These grooves are down-tempo for sure but there is something more going on than a simple set of ambient dance feels. By the second or third run through, the listener becomes hooked by something quite hard to describe . . . an attitude, perhaps - or an approach to structure which is unexpected and not aligned too closely to any of the currently popular forms.
